‘Outer Space’ | Composition Project

Help your students develop their creative side – Teach them how to compose their own music! Even if you’ve never done this before, this sequentially paced bundle makes it easy. With FOUR individual levels, this exciting composition project encourages musical story telling, based on an Outer Space Adventure. Teach students to improvise and compose easily, with this ready-to-go ‘Outer Space Adventure’ composition teaching kit.

This Set Features:

• FOUR different levels of composing activities, for beginner, elementary, intermediate and advancing students.
• Student project sheets for each level, with simple steps laid out for confident composing. Each level uses the whole tone scale to create an outer space feel.
• Each project level steps up sequentially, adding a new challenge for each higher level.
• The beginner project uses graphic notation, for early composing success. The late elementary project uses staff notation on one line only. The intermediate project adds in composing an accompanying bass line. And the late intermediate to advancing project kit extends the students’ composing skills to include changing tonal centre. It also uses binary or ternary form, and adding in phrasing, and dynamics for a fully finished score.
• Each activity set takes students step by step through the composition process, to build confidence, and create a satisfying musical sound. Each set also includes a keyboard picture of the relevant whole tone scale/s, so students easily know what notes to use.
• Improvisation is encouraged throughout, to help students hear what it is they are composing. Improvisation also give them the opportunity to experiment and find the sounds they want to use.
• Music Composition gets students reading and writing music – which is a great benefit to their sight reading and music theory skills too!
