Catering for all levels, from beginner to advancing, this exciting composition kit inspires musical creativity with a Wild West ‘Hoe-Down’ theme. Teach students to enjoy and feel confident at improvising and composing, with this fun, ready-to-go composition teaching kit.

This Composition Kit Features:

• FOUR different levels of composing activities, for Beginner, Elementary, Intermediate and Advancing students.
• Student project sheets for each level, with simple steps laid out for confident composing. Each project level steps up sequentially, adding a new challenge for each higher level.
• The Beginner project uses graphic notation, for early composing success & fun. The Elementary project uses staff notation on the treble staff. The Intermediate project teaches students to write both a melody and a bass line. And the Late Intermediate to Advancing project kit extends the students’ composing skills to include modulating to the dominant key. Encouraging students to create 8 to 16 bars, or more, it also uses binary or ternary form, phrasing, and dynamics for a fully finished score.
• Each activity set takes students step by step through the composition process, to build confidence, and create a satisfying musical sound. Each set also includes a keyboard picture of the relevant scale/s, so students easily know what notes to use.
• Improvisation is encouraged throughout, to help students hear what it is they are composing, and develop audiation skills. Improvisation also give them the opportunity to experiment and find the sounds they want to use.
• Composing their own music is a great way to get students reading and writing music – which is a great benefit to their music literacy and theory skills too!

All our download files are in PDF format, ready to save, print and use. When printing, we recommend using either Adobe Acrobat Reader (free) PDF, or ‘Nitro PRO’, to open & print our PDF resources.  You can also open our PDF files using Google Chrome, and print directly from there.  (Other PDF software may or may not print as reliably as these 3 options for our files.)
